I had seen plenty of reviews and talk of Bound By Duty for quite some time now but never had the money to go grab it. When I got the opportunity to read and review Bound By Duty for the upcoming release of Bound By Spells (which I will also be reviewing!) I jumped at the chance! I’m disappointed that I didn’t read this sooner! I strongly urge you to go pick up your copy while BBD is on sale for only $0.99!!! It will be on sale from 3/12 – 3/18 so don’t dawdle! I will have buy links at the bottom of the page.

Amelia grew up in a world of half-truths. She knows she’s an Elder but has no idea what that means. Her father reminds her daily that she must maintain control but he refuses to explain why. Even worse, she’s betrothed to the prince of the Immortals and she doesn’t even know his name.
Finally breaking free to live a few normal years at a community college, the last thing Amelia expects is to find her best friend in a cheeky Southern girl and to fall for a self-assured human who sees her for who she is and not what she’ll be.
As she learns more about herself, Amelia realizes the line between love and duty is a thin one. As her power continues to increase exponentially and her questions are slowly answered, Amelia must make the ultimate choice. The question is, will her head or her heart win the battle?
I’m gonna start with the end…I am so glad I was able to jump immediately into the next book after finishing Bound By Duty! This book kept me at the edge of my seat and on an bit of a roller coaster the whole time and I just could not get enough. I was very surprised to learn that this is Stormy Smith’s debut novel! I am absolutely blown away! Bravo, Stormy, if this is your debut, I can’t wait to see what else you can do!
Amelia, oh my dear Amelia, I think you are my new favorite book character! I have read a few ‘this character is over used in YA’ reviews but I found that Stormy Smith took the smart, beautiful but antisocial MC to a much more relateable level than any other I had read. She made it feel like it was the first time I had come across a character like Amelia.
My favorite part of BBD is the mystery of it all. I love that we get to learn of the world as Amelia does. We get to take the journey with her and watch as she starts to grow as a person. And it’s not just Amelia that felt like a real person. Stormy does an amazing job with all of the SC and I can’t wait to get to know them a little more. It really is such an amazing read. And while I don’t really think you can call the end a cliffhanger I had tons of questions at the end and was happy I had the second book to delve straight into.
I am giving Bound By Duty 4.5 stars for the magic and mystery. It would have been a 5 star had it not been for the romance between Amelia and Aidan…I felt it was a little lacking. But I am hoping it picks up in Bound By Spells (Bound #2) which releases on March 19!
My Rating of Bound By Duty: 4.5 stars
